Who might be
interested in this sort of software?
Target
Market for the product includes 13-25
year old students who want their
homework right along side their mySpace
updates; Knowledge workers who want to
stay informed while they work;
Executives who want to stay alerted to
important corporate and industry
information and publishers who want to
differentiate their content with
immediate desktop alerts while
generating ongoing ad revenue.
What makes
Particls different?
From News
Readers - Particls is not a
newsreader, it is an alerts platform.
This means that information is displayed
'while you work on other things' in a
heads-up-display presentation style. In
this way users can keep working while
staying informed.
From
Widget/Gadget Engines - Particls
is not a gadget/widget engine.
Gadgets/Widgets each represent a window
into a single source of information (E.g.
"the stock quotes widget" displays stock
quotes).
In contrast, Particls
Output Adapters are each designed to consume
varying levels of user attention.
Particls evaluates an incoming
piece of information and gives it a rank
of 'Personal Relevance' to the user.
Particls
then uses the right Output Adapter so
that it consumes only the amount of
attention required for the relevancy of
the alert. We call this
The policy of Diminishing Attention
Consumption.

Major media coverage
July
28 2006 -
TechCrunch - The world's leading
commentator on emerging technologies.
"Particls is the coolest thing I’ve
seen in quite awhile [...]. This is the
kind of tool that I can imagine becoming
core to my workflow [...] it’s going
between NetNewsWire and Adium on my
desktop. It’s a tool for smart,
personalized and persistent awareness of
the information ecosystem" -
Marshall Kirkpatrick
September 8 2006 -
Australian Financial Review -
Australia's leading journal for CEOs and
Executives
"Co-founder Chris Saad described
Particls as 'an attention management
engine' for busy people who deal with a
constant stream of incoming information.
They are working in Word trying to
produce a document and want to get a
heads-up display of their life"
January
6 2007 -
Bloggers Everywhere -
Coverage of 'Attention' and Particls
heats up in the first month of 2007.
It seems like 2007 really is the year of
Attention. Everyone's talking about it.
And we are gratified that they think
to mention us when they do.
January
15 2007 -
Burton Group -
Coverage of Particls in the Burton
Group report about Enterprise Attention
Management.
"Particls is the product on the market
that is closest to being an attention
management system. Particls
is a useful example of how to
specifically target the attention
management problem and we look forward
to following its development. The
company expects to ship the product in
early 2007"
May 11 2007 -
Wall Street Journal
"Particls (www.particls.com) looks
simple enough: a downloadable ticker
that runs across the top of your screen,
pumping you information. Nothing new
about this; the difference lies in what
information it presents, and how it
appears. Instead of shoveling data at
you, Particls tries to figure out what
you're paying attention to."
